About Expired Domain Names
Expired Domain Names is an independent editorial project about the names themselves: what makes a dropped name brandable, how appraisal actually works and where it breaks, and when an expired domain deserves to become a brand rather than a redirect. ExpiredDomainNames.io is written for founders naming a product, investors weighing a purchase and anyone curious why one eight-letter name sells for five figures while another gets no bids.
Coverage
The blog publishes practical weekly guides, comparison tables and data-backed explainers: naming patterns that hold value, how appraisal models differ and why their outputs disagree, TLD choice from the drop, and the history checks that keep a brandable name from carrying someone else's baggage. Sources are linked in each article.
How we handle appraisal claims
Appraisal tools and marketplaces are evaluated on their public pages and published methodology, and we treat every automated valuation as an input, not a verdict, because the tools themselves document real limitations. Comparable-sale figures come from publicly checkable records. Tools that are dead or discontinued are labeled that way and excluded from recommendations.
The site also covers the unglamorous parts of naming from the drop: trademark risk checks, spelling and pronunciation tests, and the difference between a name that appraises well and a name a customer can actually remember and type.
Reader-supported
Some links on this site, most notably to DomCop, are sponsored or affiliate links, marked with rel="sponsored". Commissions from those links fund the writing, and that is the whole arrangement: rankings and conclusions are not for sale, and no valuation opinion here is influenced by who runs the affiliate program.
